Emergency Preparedness
Sensenbrenner Hospital is committed to maintaining a safe environment for patients, visitors, staff, physicians, volunteers, and learners.
The hospital has emergency preparedness plans, trained response teams, and procedures in place to respond to a wide range of situations that could affect patient care or hospital operations. These include emergencies such as fires, hazardous spills, infrastructure failures, external disasters, and security incidents.
Emergency codes are used to quickly alert hospital staff to a specific type of emergency and activate the appropriate response.
Hospital staff are trained to respond to these codes and will guide patients and visitors during an emergency.
What to Do if You Hear an Emergency Code
If you hear an emergency code announced overhead:
-
Stay calm.
-
Listen carefully to overhead announcements.
-
Follow any directions provided by hospital staff.
-
Be ready to remain where you are or move to another area if instructed.
-
Do not enter restricted or affected areas.
-
Allow emergency responders to access hallways, elevators, and patient care areas.
If you see an emergency or have concerns about an immediate safety issue, please notify a staff member right away. If you choose to leave the hospital during an emergency, kindly inform a staff member so we are aware and do not initiate a search for you.
